Waaaaaay back when, a freshman Zion Williamson wasn’t the linebacker with an otherworldly vertical leap. When he looked like a regular teenager in their first year of high school, he and Sophomore and future NCAA superstar Ja Morant were AAU teammates in South Carolina. The two played on a the South Carolina Hornets in 2014-2015 which was a small regional AAU team.
Though he was a good player, Williamson was still a relatively unknown commodity on the prep circuit. And that was reflected on the AAU team he first played for. The SC Hornets lacked all the benefits and amenities that big name AAU programs received, like with a shoe or big brand sponsor.
